At Skyline Family Fellowship, we seek to be earnest disciples of Jesus. We practice discipleship in community and individually. Our discipleship is both contemplative and active. We seek to know Jesus as our Lord and Savior deep in our inmost being and in our intellect. We also seek to live out our discipleship actively by serving each other, those in the community, and the church itself. To these ends, we have Sunday school classes, small groups, service opportunities, and worship services to help us go deeper into the discipled life of a Christian.
In Matthew 16:24 Jesus tells His disciples (which includes us), “If anyone would come after me, let him deny himself and take up his cross and follow me.” This may be the bedrock verse describing what it means to be a disciple of Jesus. It tells us to count the cost of following Him, that it is indeed a deliberate decision to follow Jesus, that we must lay down many things in our lives to live out our discipleship, that we must take on many new attitudes and practices in being a disciple, and that to be disciples we must ‘Go’ in some form — we must take action as disciples that makes evident our calling and our commitment to Jesus.
